Former UFC star slams 'the worst referee to ever exist' for his part in recent UFC 325 beating
At UFC 325, which took place almost a week ago, Benoit Saint-Denis delivered a brutal beating to Dan Hooker in the co-main event. The event, UFC 325, was headlined by Alexander Volkanovski's successful title defense against Diego Lopes. In the co-main event, lightweights Dan Hooker and Benoit Saint-Denis engaged in an intense fight, with Hooker's grappling defense under scrutiny.
Hooker, known as 'The Hangman', started strong but was dominated in the second round, ultimately suffering a vicious beating on the ground by Saint-Denis, dubbed 'God of War'.
Benoit Saint-Denis is on a winning streak in the lightweight division.
The question arises: Has UFC 325 solidified 'God of War' as a future champion? Jorge Masvidal, a former UFC title challenger, believes so, but he also has strong opinions about the referee, Herb Dean.
Masvidal criticized Dean for his role in the fight, suggesting he let the fight go on for too long. He labeled Dean as 'the worst referee ever', expressing frustration with his inaction while Saint-Denis dominated Hooker.
Masvidal's comments came as he watched the fight unfold, questioning why Dean didn't stop the fight sooner. He emphasized his belief that Dean should have intervened earlier to prevent unnecessary damage to Hooker.
This isn't the first time Dan Hooker has endured such a violent beating. In 2020, he faced Dustin Poirier in a widely regarded as one of the craziest fights of all time, losing via unanimous decision.
