Tennis Scandal: Chinese Player Pang Banned for Match-Fixing Scheme (2026)

Chinese tennis player Pang Renlong faces a 12-year ban and a $110,000 fine for match-fixing, a scandal that involved 22 matches over five months. The International Tennis Integrity Agency revealed that Pang admitted to fixing five of his own matches and making corrupt approaches to players in 11 more, with six of those also fixed. The match-fixing occurred from May to September 2024, during which Pang played in various ITF tournaments across Turkey, Hong Kong, and mainland China, as well as losing in qualifying for the Jinan Open in China. One notable match was his 6-0, 6-2 loss to South Korea's Shin Woo-bin in the ITF Men's 25 tournament in Causeway Bay in August 2024. Pang's career-high ranking was 1,316th, and his suspension is expected to last until 2036, with $70,000 of the fine suspended. He is now banned from playing, coaching, or attending any events organized by major tennis bodies or national federations.
