Bold shift: softball takes the spotlight at SEA Games Bangkok 2025, and the venue is stepping up to host both men’s and women’s competitions from December 15–19, after baseball wraps up this Friday. The Her Majesty Queen Sirikit 60th Birthday Anniversary Stadium is being converted into a full softball facility to support nine teams across two brackets, with Baseball5 wrapping up the schedule on Sunday.
Softball action kicks off Monday at the SEA Games, featuring separate men’s and women’s tournaments staged at the same Bangkok venue.
Men’s field features No. 11 Singapore, No. 19 Philippines, No. 27 Thailand, and No. 29 Malaysia. Defending champions Singapore are back after their historic first gold in 2019—the last time men’s softball was contested. The Philippines earned silver in 2019, while Indonesia claimed bronze.

Women’s lineup includes No. 16 Philippines, No. 25 Singapore, No. 48 Thailand, No. 56 Malaysia, and Indonesia, which will re-enter the WBSC Women’s Softball World Ranking after a two-year absence. The Philippines aim to defend their 2019 title, while Indonesia and Malaysia hope to repeat silver and bronze performances, respectively.

Both events follow a single round-robin format, with the top two teams advancing to the Gold Medal Game and the third- and fourth-placed teams facing off for bronze. Medal games are set for December 19.
With Baseball completed and Baseball5 finishing on Sunday, these softball showdowns complete the WBSC’s four-discipline SEA Games lineup. This marks the first time four WBSC disciplines feature together in a multi-sport event since the Toronto 2015 Pan American Games.
The SEA Games bring together the National Olympic Committees of 11 Southeast Asian nations: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
