Geely EX5 gets Android Auto and customizable safety features through an over-the-air software update
Electric Cars
An over-the-air (OTA) software update for the Geely EX5 electric SUV brings smartphone connectivity and customizable safety features.
When the EX5 first launched in Australia in mid-2025, it lacked Android Auto compatibility, only offering Apple CarPlay. The recent update addresses this by enabling wired and wireless Android Auto on the 15.4-inch infotainment display.
The update also introduces a driver profile shortcut, allowing drivers to customize safety assist features, drive modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport), and brake regeneration settings with a single button press. While safety systems activate upon starting the car, the driver profile lets users adjust drive mode and energy regeneration levels.
Safety assist tech is active by default, adhering to ANCAP parameters. Drivers can toggle lane-keeping assist, emergency lane-keeping intervention, driver fatigue detection, and speed-limit alert settings to their preferred presets after setting the driver profile.
The driver profile can be activated via the steering wheel shortcut button or the swipe-down menu on the infotainment screen. Additional features include a choice of three pedestrian-alerting low-speed Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) sound signatures: Classic, Galactic, and Constellation.
The EX5 Inspire model gains a power tailgate control shortcut for the on-screen menu, and both grades now include a confirmation sound when changing drive modes. A software update for the Geely Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid is expected later in the first quarter of 2024, offering similar tech improvements.
