Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone rolls out in Singapore, supported by six payment platforms
As the year-end shopping season arrives, Singaporean businesses can now accept contactless payments using only an iPhone and a compatible app, marking the launch of Tap to Pay on iPhone in the city-state, Apple announced in a press release on Tuesday, December 2.
This service enables merchants to take payments from contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and various digital wallets through a compatible iOS app, without the need for extra hardware or dedicated payment terminals. Note that the device must be an iPhone Xs or newer and run the latest iOS version.
Six payment platforms currently support Tap to Pay on iPhone in Singapore: Adyen, Fiuu, HitPay, Revolut, Stripe, and Zoho. These are the first partners in the country to enable the feature. Grab is anticipated to roll out support in early 2026, Apple indicated.
Tap to Pay on iPhone leverages near-field communication (NFC) to complete transactions and supports payments from major networks including American Express, JCB, Mastercard, UnionPay, and Visa.
Apple stressed that all transactions are encrypted and processed via its Secure Element infrastructure. The company also notes that card numbers and transaction details are not stored, and it cannot identify purchasers or their purchase specifics.
The rollout is a collaborative effort involving payment platforms, app developers, and payment networks, designed to help businesses of all sizes—from small vendors to larger restaurant chains—accept contactless payments more seamlessly.
